Good Basic Repair Manual

The manual is not as detailed as I would like and contains information for several different variations of the Cavalier/Sunfire so it tends to be fairly basic. Not as good as a factory manual, but for basic maintenance and repairs, it is useful if you own this vehicle (note that it does have engine overhaul procedures). PROs - lots of procedures for removing and replacing various parts of the car including all the emmission sensors, decent wiring diagrams. CONs - the photos are black/white and not the best quality.

I purchased this manual specifically to locate hidden fasteners and strategic pry points to remove interior trim without damage. It had the information I needed.

Good As A Haynes Manual Gets

I've purchased a Haynes manual for just about every vehicle I've owned since the early seventies. If you want to try and do any work yourself or at least have an idea what might be causing an issue it is handy to have one around. With that said, I don't plan to buy anymore and gave this one a low rating because better options are available; namely the public library, internet car forums and how-to YouTube videos.
The basic format of a Haynes manual has not changed in decades. The format includes much information beyond many people's capability or tool chest such as how to perform a light engine overhaul or transmisson rebuild while not including many small bits of information about things that can be fixed. For instance, they include a generic wiring diagram but no information about the location of electrical ground points or wiring connectors so you spend more time hunting than troubleshooting or fixing. Nothing about how to fix a cracked dash or torn upholstery, replacing a door or rear shelf speaker.
