About the Author
Tom Stuart became a Christian as a twenty-five year old postgrad student through a radical conversion from agnosticism to faith in Jesus Christ. Since receiving a call to the ministry at that time, he has pursued a life of serving the Lord as a pastor, teacher, church planter and business entrepreneur. He is presently a leader at the Twin Cities Justice House of Prayer. His passion is to raise up a praying and prevailing church that will answer Jesus’ mandate to be a house of prayer for all nations.

This book was written for people like myself who struggle to maintain their prayer life

About 25 years ago I went on a singles retreat where Tom Stuart spoke on prayer. What I remember is that it was the one time I can honestly say someones teaching had a profound impact on my life. When I got back I resolved myself to get up very early and pray. When I saw that Tom has just released this book on prayer I ordered it immediately, mainly because I couldn't remember what about that weekend changed my life and why I had seemingly forgotten it. This book was written for people like myself who struggle to maintain their prayer life.

Once I started reading the book I instantly remembered why Tom's teaching meant so much to me. Most sermons emphasize why you should pray. While Tom covers that, more than that, he shows how to make your prayer life successful. Just a few examples, and without revealing too much. He shows what the most powerful prayer you can pray is. While that might sound rather presumptious to know that, once you read it you will agree. He also covers 6 prayers that God always answers, or what to do when all else fails, and that was extremely encouraging.

Tom's style is thorough, Biblically sound and very easy to read. In fact, I don't think many chapters are more than 4 pages, and you can go back to this book like a refrence manual because it addresses individual subjects that we all need to go back to at times.

A Wonderful Book to Kickstart Your Prayer Life!

I recently finished reading my colleague Tom Stuart's book on Igniting an Impassioned Prayer Life. Tom's personal passion for prayer comes through in this book. His maturity gained as a pastor/teacher in the local church plus his more recent work in the house of prayer locally have given rise to this very insightful book. The book is very readable. The chapters are short, the main thoughts are in bold, and the explanatory paragraphs are Scripture-filled. There are 43 topics covered in Seven Sections which makes the book a useful reference tool as well as a devotional journal. Tom has made that last aspect easier by adding a "For Further Meditation and Application" section to the end of each of the 43 topics covered. The book begins with a call to be in the Presence of God through prayer and moves through illustrating various types of prayer, and ends with a section on how to overcome obstacles in our prayer life. The book is remarkably meaty considering how easy it is to read. And Tom uses language that is clear, crisp and easy to understand. The author exhorts us into a deeper personal prayer life, but he also addresses the importance of prayer in the corporate life of a local church. He also addresses the growing movement of houses of prayer that are emerging all across the planet right now. My favorite quote in the book is in a response the author makes to a lament that Leonard Ravenhill made about prayerlessness of the American church. The author writes "My desire is that the remedy offered here to Ravenhill's diagnosis of the prayer-less church offers hope to you in your church situation. I dream of the day when every local church is truly a house of prayer, where there are more agonizers than organizers, more pray-ers than players or payers, more clingers than singers, more intercessors than interferers. Will you join me in dreaming---and praying?" Yes, Tom, we will join you!

I just finished reading Tom Stuart's book Igniting An Impassioned Prayer Life. I found it a beautifully written, flowing book about becoming a house of prayer. I found so many golden nuggets about communion with God which I had not thought of before. This book is from the heart. I am impassioned.

Moving forward the book is a Biblical teaching written by Stephanie Ike that allows you to step out of stagnancy and move into purpose.I believe that it is a definite and must read for everyone.
I absolutely loved this book.
From the moment I began reading Moving Forward I was unable to put the book down until I read the last page the next morning .
It is filled with teachings on how to renew your faith and provided continuous divine confirmation, and understanding on the power we have over our purpose.
It not only equips you with each and every tool needed to discover your purpose but it also warns you of the stumbling blocks you may face along the road and then quietly guides you all the way to the finish line.
Moving forward taught me to abandon the role of victim completely and to put on the full Armour of God and step into victorious.
Each teaching in Moving Forward is richly soaked with just the right amount of scripture to support it and it assist with the understanding of each lesson. It is easy to have passion ,ambition and drive but in a world with so much to do and so little time, every day distractions both big and small , We find ourselves completely stagnant and distracted .
Moving Forward delivered a very clear and concise message .
My favorite teaching in Moving Forward is teaching number 1# Gods Purpose Involves Your Mistakes .this helped me understand that God can use all of me.

There are like 4 or 5 mini books inside

I couldn't even finish this! Contains spoilers! There are like 4 or 5 mini books inside. I got through the first one really easy and I liked it. But then 1/2 way through the 2nd book I got bored and started flipping through the rest of the book. The heroine literally drives me insane, the hero drives me insane. I usually love stepbrother romances, and I love bad boy alpha males even more. But these 2 were so flipping annoying, wavering back and forth about do I love him, do I love her, we can't do this because we are step siblings. The book could have been written in 200 pages not over 400. And I read the last book just to see how the book ended. And after all of that it's not even really a happy ending. They kind of get back together at the end. It just ended and at their parent's wedding, so it wasn't even really like they were step siblings for the entire book. I really hate giving bad reviews but I can't honestly say I would recommend this to my friends.

• H is a disgusting, unapologetic CHEATER and a nasty über manwhore. He flaunts a "floozy" in front of h to hurt her so she will hate him. H sleeps his way through 17+ of the female recruits, including the h.
• h is awful and absolutely annoying. She forgives H way too easily.

~Not even a very good ending!!!

~Book is way too long...470 pages, ugh.

~Writing & editing leave A LOT to be desired.

an ok read, but too long and drawn out

Having served in the US Army, I found the inaccuracies with the ranking and titles annoying as hell as well as some editing issues. I've experienced being among the 1st group of females in basic training within a formerly all male unit/brigade at Ft Dix, and most of Charlie's initial sexual antics were disgusting, outrageous and warranted disciplinary action. For me, the story was too convoluted with the addition of Charlie's father and potential step-sibling situation. Hannah and Charlie were often unlikable to me so I wish their characters had been more developed because they literally kept making the same mistakes over and over again ad naseum. Then at the last 4 pages, they figure their mess out.

The best cookbook I've ever had

I was originally given this cookbook by my grandmother 20 years ago, and I used it so much it completely fell apart. I've used this cookbook far, far more than any of the several others I have. I was so happy to be able to get another one in perfect condition! Every single recipe I've tried out of the hundreds of recipes in the book (and I've tried many, many of them over the years) has been excellent and several of the recipes have become family favorites - especially Morrocan Chicken. I highly recommend this cookbook.

CREATIVE INTERNATIONAL COOKBOOK includes a wealth of flavorful recipes for any cook to explore.
I recently went through the book and flagged with Post It tabs recipes I want to try for my family and friends. Over the years I've used the excellent index to find what I'm looking for and discovered others.
Some of the ingredients may be difficult to find in the local grocery, but substitutions work fine. These are old recipes and a careful watch can reduce the calories of foods designed for people who worked hard from a physical standpoint and utilized the calories.

There will, no doubt, be some that pick this book up read the cover and say, I am familiar with this teaching, it is more of the same. That is far from the truth. The first time I heard Kerry Kirkwood teach I realized he was a man whom, God had entrusted with transforming truth. I begged him to get this into print for the benefit of families and those in market place ministries. If I had another 100 years to live this book would remain in my library. This will be a book that you read and reread, it will be a book you give to family and friends. You will find yourself going back to it for reference. It is a line upon line book. I think we are living in a day when we have a tendency to fix single meaning to truths that we have heard. In doing this we shut our self out from future revelation. This is one of the most timely books I have ever had in my hand, it is a book written by a man of God whose time has come. About the Author
Kerry Kirkwood is the founding pastor of Trinity Fellowship in Tyler, Texas, founded in 1987. He currently serves as senior pastor and as the network director of Antioch Oasis International. He helps oversee churches nationally and internationally and is known for his gifting in prophetic presbytery and conferences. He and his wife, Diane, have four children and two grandchildren.

Beyond the Mundane - Practicing the Life and Power of Blessing

Kerry Kirkwood's book "The Power of Blessing" describes a lifestyle of blessing others. My heart was filled with expectation as I began to read the stories and testimonies of healing from physical afflictions, of restored relationships, and of business breakthroughs.

Kirkwood proposes that there are various aspects of blessing which focus on a lifestyle that goes beyond materialism, changing the heart, to become a prophetic declaration, creative and restorative. Kerry uses Biblical and contemporary stories to illustrate how God brings things back into His divine order. The power of blessing restores hope, gives back dreams, and redirects faith to see unanswerable prayer answered.

The book is made up of four parts designed to help the reader understand the revelation of blessing, the inclusion for blessing, the activation of blessing and the manifestation of blessing. The chapters are filled with practical applications which talk of how when we apply truth we are set free to see things from God's perspective.

I was moved by the affirmations expressed in the prayers included in each chapter. They are excellent models for future personal prayers. Additional suggestions for "Blessing" are included in the appendix. The scriptures included throughout the book have a direct correlation to life principles, providing guidelines for living and for transforming truth into reshaping our lives.

"The Power of Blessing" is a book for every Christian. Kerry Kirkwood brilliantly sheds new light on God's intended favor for his children. He takes the reader beyond the mundane to a life of experiencing the Power of Blessing.

When we speak blessings over our children, we are saying what their life should be, not what it is now. If we want a blessing, we have to develop a lifestyle of blessing others.

Knowing Pastor Jon and sitting in his church, I must say that not only is this man's walk consistent with his teaching, but that as the years go by, I am seeing him yearning for Heaven more and more. He is also a very humble man. I am grateful that he desires to be in a tiny town, and desires less and less of what this world has to offer. He could be a pastor of a mega church, not to speak ill of those who do, but we are so blessed to have him hear teaching. All of these delightful character attributes inspiring, but are reflected in his writings.

Jon Courson has an amazing way at saying something profound and worth hearing in such a simple, tangible, clear way. He relates the Old Testament to the new testament constantly. He allows scripture to convict without being burdensome, and offers freedom in the Christian walk that is so refreshing. Every day there is a new insight in this book--often one that leaves me re-reading it to someone else. I have his commentaries as well.

About the Author
Lan Liu is a researcher at Peking University's Center for China Strategic Studies and adjunct professor at the Beijing Peter F. Drucker Academy, where he teaches leadership courses on their executive programs. The author of five books in Chinese, including People First (2010, co-author), Master Classes of Leadership (2009), and Ten Truths of Management (2008), for seven years he was editor-in-chief of Chief Executive China, a leading business-management magazine with around 200,000 subscribers. In a varied career, he has been a columnist of China Business Times, associate director of case center of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, and deputy general manager of an advertising agency. Liu holds a B.A. in International Politics and an M.A. in International & Intercultural Communication from Peking University, and an M.P.A. in International Development from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

Want to know how China will be led and by whom? You have to read this one.

I got "Conversations on Leadership - Wisdom from Global Management
Gurus" yesterday. It is written by a 40 years old native Chinese, Lan
Liu, who is a raising star in China. He got BS, MS from Peking
University in Leadership, and MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School. He is
teaching China's elite decision makers now.

My original purpose to read this book is I like to know 20 years later
how China will be led and by what kind of people. This book sure has a
lot of surprising wisdom from all over the world, amazingly. I also
get highly entertained with his unintentional humors, such as he
quoted the following:

Confucious' Analects recorded Zengzi, one of the greatest disples of
Confucius, examined (should be reflect) himself many times a day by
asking himself such questions: "When doing things for others, have I
put in my best efforts? In intercourse with friends, am I always true
to my word (may be he meant "Do I social with my friends truthfully?")
Have I failed to practice what I teach?"

I use iMindMap to take key notes when I read. If I can not put down
much then I usually return the book. I only read 55 pages of this book
so far, I already put down tons of notes on the branches, such as:

Quality: adaptive capacity-humble, curiosity, respectful-listen, learn
from whoever you are with, passion, reflective practice, know
yourself - values, character, authentic being, courage (70% confidence
and knowledge then do it), generosity on
appreciation-acknowledge-respect, Ego and ambition, Able follower
(speak truth to power, realize mission).

Leader does the right thing and manager does thing right.

Just name 1/3 of the notes I took so far, you get idea, right?

I highly recommend this book and it is very entertaining by looking
his straight face on the back cover and read his English. China does
have hope, huge hope with these funny and super smart leaders. He is
totally Americanized too, which is great for us.

A great book for understanding leadership. (1) Putting major leadership thinkers in one volume provides a whole picture of leadership. (2) Intimate converational format (BTW, the author did take efforts to talk to each of them) makes the book very readable, and (3) the eight leadership disciplines that the author summarize is very enlightening. Enjoyed reading it.

LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

5 Stars for Lyra Parish and her follow up to Single Volume 1!! Time to add Parker Williams to your BBF list!
Roxane VanBuren has found the one man that is crossing her set rules and working his way into her heart. Parker Williams also has a set of rules that he needs to be met to make this relationship work. Love shouldn’t be so hard. But when your heart has been shattered before, you do what you can to protect it. Will either one be able to get past their “rules” and let their love for each other happen?
After finishing Single Vol. 1 I couldn’t wait for this one to come out! I needed to make sure that Roxane didn’t do anything stupid and lose Parker Williams! The man oozes sex appeal, romance, and chivalry in Vol 2. There was a twist I did not expect and all I thought was “No”! Okay a little dramatic, but that is how into the book I was. I’m a fan, what can I say?! Thank you Lyra Parish for another 5 Star read!

Another Amazing book!!!!!

OMG I loved this book. I am so ready for book three now. I don't want to wait. I need to know what happens with Parker and Roxane. I LOVE Parker!!! I didn't think I could love him more than Finnley, but he has worked his way into my heart.

Roxane is determined to keep work and personal separate, but Parker is determined to break down all her walls. She knows that nothing good can come of them being together, but there is a connection there that draws her to him. She has known that since the first night she met him at Orleans. Can she give into her desire for Parker without losing focus on work?

Parker is determined to break down all of Roxane's walls. He sees something special in her and wants to get to know her. She is a hard woman to break though. He is hoping that their trip to New York will work in his favor to get her to let down her guard. But can he keep her if her gets her? What will he do if she walks away?

This is an amazing serial. I don't want it to end in the next book. I love reading about Roxi and Parker. But I am excited to read what Lyra has in store for us in the future!!

Loved this book.. I love Lyra. Could not wait for this to be out and its another one with the twists and turns and unpredictability that keeps you wanting to read more of Lyra's book. She is a master at that. Loving book from page one till the last page and saying" wow did not see that coming" that is what I love best in her books and any book I read. Never carbon copies of another persons book... She keeps the story rolling around and never lets you down. Never pages of boring blah blah blah,,, it holds your interest all the way through... Another home run Lyra!
